Why city filters on car sites are a lie

You pick a city. The site shows cars from three counties, two states, and a dealer 90 minutes away. The filter ran. It just did not mean what you thought.

Most marketplaces expand a city into a DMA, a radius, or “similar inventory” so the page never looks empty. Empty is honest. Mixing metros is not.

OwnerLot defaults to this city only. Los Angeles is Los Angeles. New York is not Brooklyn. Brooklyn is not Jersey City. If you want 25 miles, you choose 25 miles. The URL keeps that choice, so the result is shareable and crawlable.
